Hi everyone,
I’ve been job hunting for a few months with very little response, and I’m starting to think my resume is the problem. I’ve tried a couple of free resume builders, but everything I make ends up looking like the same template everyone else uses, and I’m not sure it would pass the applicant tracking systems many employers rely on.
I’m now thinking about paying for a
professional resume writing website, but there are so many options that I can’t tell which ones are genuinely good and which are just well-marketed. Some promise interviews within days, and others look like they just run your details through a template.
If you’ve used one, I’d really appreciate some honest feedback on a few things:
Did a resume writing website actually improve your interview rate, or was it mostly cosmetic?
How do you tell a real writer-led service from an automated builder or a template factory?
Is it better to use a website with a consultation and a human writer, or are the cheaper instant options good enough?
How much should I expect to pay, and what should be included (revisions, cover letter, file formats)?
Do any of them offer a free resume review so you can see their quality before you commit?
What red flags should I watch for, such as guaranteed jobs, no contact with the writer, or pushy sales tactics?
Is it worth getting a LinkedIn profile and cover letter done at the same time?
I’d also love to hear which websites you’d avoid, and any before-and-after examples you’re happy to share.
Thanks in advance, any honest advice is welcome!
