Has anyone actually found a local crate manufacturer that doesn't cost a fortune?

I'm really trying to source more of our equipment locally instead of dealing with the headache of long shipping times and import paperwork, but honestly the prices I've been quoted from some of the supposed local manufacturers have been eye-watering compared to what we can get from overseas. I've been reading about how more manufacturers in the region are starting to invest in reusable logistics equipment to meet growing demand, and it's got me thinking there must be some decent options around that I just haven't found yet. We need a steady supply of plastic crates for manufacturing and logistics in UAE, and I've come across a few companies that seem promising, like one in Sharjah that apparently makes crates for various food applications, and another in Dubai Investments Park that specializes in material handling products. I also saw a Dubai-based manufacturer that's been around since 2010 serving the beverage, bakery, and food industries with pallets and crates . The problem is I can't tell if these are legit local manufacturers with reasonable pricing or just trading companies slapping on a big markup. I'm not expecting rock-bottom prices but I'd like to find a reliable partner without the import delays and crazy shipping costs. Has anyone actually bought directly from a local manufacturer and been happy with both the quality and the price? I'd really appreciate any recommendations before I commit to a big order.

I’ve been driving a 2022 Nissan Patrol and lately I’ve noticed the battery struggles to turn over after sitting for just two days, especially with this insane humidity we’re having. I mostly do short city runs around Dubai – maybe 15 to 20 minutes each way – and I’m wondering if the alternator just isn’t getting enough time to fully recharge it, or if the heat is simply cooking the cells. I checked the date on the current unit and it’s only about 18 months old, so I’m a bit annoyed it’s already giving me warning signs. I was thinking of upgrading to something with more reserve capacity, but I also don’t want to waste money if the issue is my driving habits. A friend mentioned that AGM batteries handle the stop-start cycles better, but I’m not sure if they’re worth the extra cost for my use case. I’ve been reading about different options and I think I’ll check it out before I end up stranded in a parking lot somewhere, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has faced a similar problem. Has anyone here switched to a higher CCA rating and noticed a real difference during the peak summer months, or should I just invest in a decent maintainer and keep my current battery for another season?

Got a vibration under my Wrangler after a desert trip – could it be the driveshaft?

I took my 2018 Wrangler out for some dune bashing last weekend, and ever since I got back on the tarmac, I've noticed a weird vibration coming from underneath the car, especially when I hit around 80 km/h on the highway. It's not a violent shake, but it's definitely noticeable and it wasn't there before the trip. A mate who's pretty handy with Jeeps reckons it could be the driveshaft, maybe a worn U-joint or a balance issue that's been aggravated by the sand and the heavy load . I've read that vibrations at higher speeds often point to a driveshaft that's out of balance or a failing joint, and the clunk I sometimes hear when shifting could be related as well . I'm based in Abu Dhabi and I'm looking for a workshop that can properly inspect the front and rear shafts, check the U-joints and CV joints, and rebalance or replace anything that's worn. I've heard there are a few places in Musaffah that focus on 4x4s and American vehicles, but I want to make sure whoever does the work knows what they're doing with the Dana axles and can spot any alignment or bolt issues that might cause the same problem again . I wanted to share a close call in case anyone else is new to warehouse storage like me. I found what I thought was a great deal on some heavy duty plastic pallets from a random seller online, looked fine in the pictures and the price was really tempting. Luckily I mentioned the purchase to a friend who runs a bigger operation and he asked if they were rated for racking. I had no idea that was even a thing. Turns out the pallets I was about to buy were only rated for floor stacking, not for use in pallet racking. I had to go back and specifically look for rackable plastic pallets instead. The difference apparently is in the design of the bottom runners and how they distribute weight across the rack beams. If I'd put those floor only pallets up in the air, they could have sagged or even cracked and dropped everything onto the aisle below. That would have been a disaster. So yeah, if you're using racking, make absolutely sure the pallet spec says rackable. Don't assume like I did. Ended up paying a bit more but way cheaper than an accident. Just a heads up for anyone shopping on a budget.

2017 Lincoln MKZ AC blows cold then warm intermittently – any ideas before I spend a fortune?

I'm hoping someone here has dealt with this. My 2017 MKZ has dual zone climate control, and the AC will blow ice cold for maybe 10-15 minutes, then suddenly start blowing warm air for no reason. If I turn the AC off for a few minutes and back on, it sometimes starts working again. There's no pattern to it, happens whether I'm driving or idling. I've checked the refrigerant level and it seems fine. I took it to a local shop and they said it could be a faulty expansion valve, a bad compressor clutch, or an intermittent electrical issue with the climate control module. They wanted to start replacing parts at my expense. I'm looking for a sharjah lincoln ac cooling service that actually has experience with these Lincolns and can do a proper diagnostic. BMW mechanic in Dubai quoted me 18k for transmission rebuild – found someone in Sharjah for 6k

I've got a 2016 BMW 520i with the ZF 8 speed, and last month it started doing this weird thing where it would slam into reverse and sometimes hesitate when shifting into drive. Took it to a well known BMW specialist in Dubai and they said the mechatronic unit is failing and the torque converter is showing signs of wear. Their quote for a full rebuild was 18,500 dirhams including labor. I almost choked. A friend who owns a workshop in Ajman told me to look in Sharjah because rent is cheaper and there are some really skilled transmission guys there who charge way less. After asking around, a few people told me about what they called the best gearbox repair service sharjah has to offer, a small shop that apparently does nothing but ZF transmissions for BMW, Audi, and Land Rover. I dropped the car off on a Sunday and picked it up the following Thursday. It's been three weeks now and the transmission feels better than it has in years. Confused about the difference between a regular service check and a real pre purchase inspection

I'm hoping someone can clear this up for me because I keep getting conflicting advice. I'm looking at a 2017 Mazda CX9 from a dealer in Ras Al Khaimah, and I asked them if I could take the car to a garage for a check before buying. The dealer said "sure, we have our own workshop, they can do a full inspection for you." But that feels weird to me because it's their own guys checking their own car, right? Obviously they're not going to tell me if something's wrong. So I started calling around to independent garages, and some of them said they can do a "full service check" which sounded good until I realized it's basically just an oil change and a visual once over. Then I found something called a dubai certified pre purchase check from a company that only does inspections, not repairs. Apparently they don't have any incentive to hide problems because they don't make money off fixing them. That makes a lot of sense to me in theory. But here's my question for people who've been through this: what's the actual difference between what these specialist inspectors do versus what a normal garage does when you ask them to "check the car"? Is it worth paying double for the specialist? I don't want to waste money but I also don't want to get burned. The CX9 is a big purchase for our family and I need to get this right.
