PLASTIRA LAKE

Alternative tourism in Plastira Lake is highly developed and there are many activities to choose from, both more or less intense, some of them for those who love adrenaline and some for those who love natural life and the relaxation that comes with it. The Lake constitutes a natural heaven for the lovers of alternative tourism. With its enchanting landscapes, the visitor can get involved with hunting in the surrounding forests, fishing in the Lake, or hiking in the beautiful trails of the area.

KALYVIA IN PEZOULA

In the area Kalyvia in Pezoula there has been established a mountain biking center, where interested visitors can get information and equipment for cycling around the lakeside mountain area. At various spots along the route surrounding the lake, outdoor recreation locations can be found, with wooden benches, outdoor stone grills and water taps, where the visitor can enjoy a meal with the view of the Lake scenery. Infrastructure has also been built and actions have been taken for alternative tourism. Hiking and cycling paths have been created and marked around the whole surrounding area of the lake with the assistance of local municipalities and communities.

LAKE OF AOOS

Ecotourism and sports activities are currently organized around the lake of Aoos’ Sources from groups of individuals, clubs or small tourism businesses mainly around the settlements of the Municipality of Metsovo, but not to a great extent, despite the fact that some basic infrastructure already exists, such as mountain paths of the “Pichteio” Network of Metsovo, with a special marking, that originate from or pass through the Lake areas. Examples of activities and events are:

• The cycling tour of the lake, organized in recent years from the Beneficiary Institution of the Municipality of Metsovo and the Administrative Authority of the National Parks of Vikos-Aoos and Pindos.
• Horse-riding and leisure horse-riding at the plateau of Politses, a landscape of incredible natural beauty.

The wider area offers activities such as:

• Ski, at the ski resorts of the area: Karakoli, Profitis Elias and Anilio
• Hiking through the paths towards the national park of Valia Kalnta or the mountain refuge
• of the Mavrovouni
• Mountain routes for 4Χ4 cars or motorcycles

LAKE OF RIACHOVO

Just out of the village Riachovo, in a magnificent location, in a unique oak forest, there is the lake of Riachovo, also known as Dovritsi. The lake covers an area of approximately 45 acres, decorating the landscape and discreetly giving its own blue touch in the green of the area. The area of the lake of Riachovo is ideal for hiking, cycling, mountain biking and horse-riding. Every June takes place a cycling tour with many participatnts and especially children.
